Hey! I was the gaffer on one of the vids on one of those! Killer.
We used the then-brand new Sony HDV camera. Came up good live, but post was a bitch, I heard. Something about the HDV codec. I deal with real lights, real shadows, not 101001001011011001010100010101000100111110011011001010 (that's ones and zeroes for those of your who still don't speak code).
Here's a good one - this guy, Mike, has a site that he's maintained for eleven years, nearly twelve, and the entire site is all about how the guy who does the cartoon 'The Quigmans' is a liar, thief and hack.
I can't believe any one cares about the guy who does the quigmans. But, I guess if that guy stole from me, I might be upset.
It's kind of amazing.
I sent him an email telling him that I thought it was amazing. I wonder if he'll know that I was being sincere- that I think it's a good thing to do well, if you're going to do it. Or, if he'll start a site telling no one that I'm a bad person.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.
A key? Vote where? A key? to the door, it's open dude. Oh, vote 'aquî!" Shit man, which precinct? 40. No, I'm not in 40 he's telling me. He's also telling me that I'm his nephew that should have been more appreciative of the bread I got for Purim. Yes, well, where do I vote. No I have A KEY. Just the vote part. Okay, precinct 42. Excellent. There's no body there, doesn't that seem strange to any of .... oh, never mind. Um no, thanks, I don't really want a 'provisional' ballot,( also called landfill). How about we take a look at my voter registration card. Here. Now, here it says precinct 45. You have my name right there. Yes! That is funny Old Chinese Lady.
What are we going to do when there's technology from the 20th Century involved here? Lord, Have Mercy.
It's not about Spanish-speaking neighbors, it's not about confused elderly folks, it's about a lack of commitment to the election system. It shouldn't be run by people who don't have a clue. In NY, we're lucky as it were, in that we have voting machines that are older than the volunteers who operate them. Lever-vote-lever. My problem is that when we go to an electronic system, and we will, we'll still have these elderly and ESL volunteers working the polling places. that's a big 'ugh', man, just waiting to happen.
